Data leader by day. AI builder all the time.
I'm Bryan McKinney, Director of Data & Analytics at a SaaS company, based in Denver, Colorado.
I have spent my career turning messy company data into things leadership actually uses: warehouses, metrics, forecasts, and dashboards. Over the last two years that work has shifted hard toward AI. Today most of what my team ships is built with and maintained by agents: pipelines that load themselves, reports that explain their own numbers, and assistants that read Slack, support queues, and planning tools so people do not have to.
I started consulting because the questions I kept getting from peers were the same ones I had already answered the hard way. Which use cases are real. How to get a skeptical team to adopt a tool. What to build versus buy. How to keep it running after the launch excitement fades.
Outside work I am happiest when something I built quietly does its job at seven in the morning without anyone touching it.
How I think about this work
Practitioner first
Everything I recommend is something I have shipped and maintained myself. No slideware.
Small, then real
The first version ships in weeks. Scope grows only after something is working in production.
You own it
Code, prompts, docs, and accounts live with you. My goal is to make myself unnecessary.
Honest about limits
I will tell you when AI is the wrong tool. That saves money and credibility.
